A Pep Talk from Ira Glass
February1
A few words of inspiration on hanging in there through the early stages of creative work (practicing music counts) from the host of NPR’s This American Life:
This ties in a bit with being willing to sound bad, and knowing that a period of sucking as you develop a new creative skill is totally normal. Enjoy!
Love this video link Zadie. Makes me want to keep on working.
Dear Zara,
Just a note to thank you for your beautiful blog site. I found it as I was looking up ideas on memorizing. I have recently picked up my cello at 48, after 18 years mostly off, and it’s a challenge! Your site if very helpful and I will take your advice and yell ridiculous! when I hear those nasty voices!
Thanks for all you do!
Thanks for your kind words–and good luck with the cello!
